David was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme in March of 2017. He is 51 years old. He is a dad, husband, brother, son, uncle.
David has had a profound impact on many young lives as a professor at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Connecticut. Retiring, after 21 years from the West Hartford Police Department as a Captain, he followed his passion to teach Criminal Justice to college students. He inspired many to pursue careers in law enforcement and other criminal justice professions.
As a West Hartford police officer, David was proud to have been a member of the SWAT team and a K-9 handler, with his partner Luke, for many years. He was a field training officer and traffic officer, and ultimately served as the lieutenant in charge of the Community Relations Division before commanding the Traffic Division. David was a highly decorated officer; retiring at the rank of Captain.
David is the proud father to two amazing boys. His oldest son, Anthony (28), is a professor at Kansas State University, married with one ridiculously sweet baby boy and a second child on the way. His youngest, Zane (10), is an avid hockey player, crazy good at Fortnite, and an overall joy to watch grow.
When Zane was two, he decided he wanted to play hockey...so David took up hockey, skating 2 to 3 nights a week in mens' leagues, while coaching Zane's youth teams. He discovered a passion through his young son; a passion that keeps him motivated to fight for his life! There is nothing he enjoys more than watching Zane skate.
After two surgical procedures, countless clinical trials, radiation (x2) and 25 months of fighting, David looks forward to the day he can strap on a pair of skates and get on the ice again. He is eager for the day he can run again and ride a bike.
David identifies with the Honey Badger, possibly the most tenacious and fearless creature on Earth. I would have to agree!
